According to a statement released by the Asia Textile Sustainable Development Network, textile producers in Asia are working together to improve sourcing practices in the textile and garment industry. They represent more than 60% of the world’s garment export manufacturers.
Pakistan’s main textile export association, which includes Pakistan Towel Manufacturers Association (PTMA), Pakistan Socks Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PHMA), and Pakistan Textile Exporters Association (PTEA), is cooperating with Bangladesh, Cambodia, China, Myanmar, and Vietnam textile exporters. There are efforts to remove the limitations on textile export barriers quickly.
Textile manufacturers in Asia want to reach common positions and strengthen cooperation on payment and delivery methods. In addition, according to a spokesman for the network, they want to have a bigger voice in discussions with brands and buyers to make textile and clothing production sustainable.
